In the two years that the service was in operation we rejected just over 200 million SPAM messages. This netted an average reduction in SPAM for the hosted users of 94%
In an average month, towards the end of the service's life, we rejected a total of over 10.5 million messages. That breaks down to the following sustained rejection rates:
Table 3-1. Sustained rejection rates
| Rejection Count | Period |
|---|---|
| 10,500,000 | per month. |
| 350,000 | per day. |
| 145,000 | per hour. |
| 243 | per minute. |
| 4 | per second. |
Handling 4 emails a second for a period of 30 days, non-stop is a reasonably impressive achievement considering the commodity hardware used and the simplicity of our setup.
